This patient had had a fracture of her left index finger treated with too much metalwork in the USA

The skin and deeper tissues are dissected to bone and one of the plates and screws is exposed

The two plates we removed are shown

After removal of the plates and release of the soft tissues nearly full bending of the finger has been restored

The bending tendon in the palm is exposed to ensure it is not stuck down which would prevent a good result

The skin has been closed. The finger will be dressed and movement started within a week
