At rest i.e without bending the hand looks normal

On bending fully the middle and ring finger extensor tendons slip to the ulnar side over the metacarpal head

The skin has been opened and the tendons are seen to lie normally at rest

With gradual bending the tendon remains normally (centrally) aligned

With full flexion (bending) the middle and ring finger tendons slip to the side of the metacarpal head

Part of the extensor tendon was looped around the radial intrinsic tendon. This stabilised the tendons to both fingers
